Day 2 – Norwegian Bliss Inaugural Transatlantic

It’s Day 2 of the Inaugural Transatlantic cruise on Norwegian Bliss

Back to Day 1Back to Main Review Page

Chris and I had a great sleep in our mini suite stateroom. I know we made the right decision to book this when I heard Chris giggling loudly as he played with the jets in the walk-in shower. Apart from the welcome extra space this was so worth the extra money!

We went up to the Garden Cafe for breakfast – lots of fresh options and enough seating at 9:30am.

We then headed down to Starbucks to check out their menu.

We chose a Latte and a Hot Chocolate, aware that they would not be covered by the UBP.

We asked if they had any Starbucks Bliss merchandise and they said no, not yet!

Next we stopped at the store that did sell Bliss merchandise and there was so much to choose from!

We just bought a lanyard each and a couple of Inaugural fridge magnets.

After going to a very well-attended Cruisecritic meet and greet in the Manhattan Room we stopped off at the Sugarcane Mojito Bar for our first drinks of the day.

We ordered a rather tasty Pineapple Coconut Mojito and a Wiki Rum Punch.

We stopped by La Cucina to check out the venue and the menu.

We went along to a talk about British actors who had made it big in the US – we watch a lot of movies and US TV shows so knew quite a few.

And then watched a funny game show in The Atrium called The Wheel of Ill Will.

Earlier that day we had tried out the booking facilities on the touch information screens in the staircase lobbies.

Here, you can view, select and reserve bookings. We booked a Happy Hour Prohibition show and a Silent Disco night. The screen asks you to enter your stateroom number and you can scan your card in a slot at the bottom. Any charges will go straight onto your account. Very cool.

We stopped by the new A-List Bar for a drink before dinner.

The menu had some interesting cocktails.

Chris got a bit confused and asked for a Dirty Manhattan. The waiter came back to confirm – the menu said Black Manhattan but it had Filthy Cherry in it. A lot of laughter all round. It was very very strong when it did arrive.

For dinner, we went to Savor, one of the main dining rooms. We were given a great table by the window.

The menu had a good selection to cater for our tastes:

We chose French Onion Soup and Bruschetta as appetizers.

A little smaller than we get on other cruise lines but tasty.

For mains, we selected Bacon and Bourbon Glazed Chicken Breast and the Shrimp Pasta alla Vodka.

It took a while for these to arrive but both these dishes were delicious – we loved the sauces.

We had trouble choosing a dessert – so many options!

We went for After Eight Mint Chocolate Mousse and Boston Cream Pie.

They were both very good.

After dinner, we went to the District Brewhouse for drinks. I was struggling as I don’t drink beer whereas Chris loves craft beers. Fortunately, Englebert offered to arrange an off-menu Bahama Mama for me and I am now set for the rest of the cruise!

We then headed down to Q at 9pm to watch country artist Camille Rae perform with her band. The music was amazing and the band were really tight.

I didn’t recognise any of the songs but it didn’t matter. And the wall of sound they created – don’t expect to be able to chat while eating at the same time!

After an hour we headed off to The Social for the 70s Disco Groove Party. Wow – so impressed with the music, the sound system and the entertainment staff. They know how to party!

We called it a night at 11:30.
