It’s Day 4 of the Inaugural Transatlantic cruise on the Norwegian Bliss.
So last night we were instructed to turn the clock back one hour. This meant we woke up earlier enough to get a full breakfast in the Garden Cafe. Hurrah!
It was nice and sunny outside but a bit windy. As it was the last sea day before Ponta Delgada, we decided to scope out some parts of the ship we hadn’t seen yet.
First on the list was the Theatre. This didn’t look as big as some I had seen on a cruise ship.
The main seats had fixed arms but there were some more comfy armchairs at the back with tables on both sides. First come first served for these. Note that these were not always bought out for events but, according to Guest Services, can be requested on the night.
Just outside the Theatre towards The Local were two bowling lanes ($5 to play) and other games designed to take your money.
Then we headed up to the top of the ship to check out the Laser Tag area. This was really exposed to the wind and could only be accessed on deck 18 by stairs. The signage and design looked fantastic.
After seeing this, Chris is trying to get a squad together!
From this deck, you can also look across the ocean loops towards the Go-Kart area.
The Go-karts are also only accessible by stairs next to Margaritaville.
You can view the starting grid through protective plexiglass or go up another set of stairs for a complete view of the track. The go-karts didn’t seem to go that fast but the drivers have to cope with hills and tight corners. And, of course, you have to work your way up the leader board to try and get on the podium!
You have about 10-15 minutes of driving time and about 8 loops of the track. Chris has since used the touchscreen in the staircase lobby to reserve a slot on the next sea day. The cost was $7.
After tidying up our sea hair, we chilled out for an hour or so in the Atrium with some Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate. This place is always busy and we heard some of the presentation and q&a from the cruise staff on what is involved in running the ship.
As we are on holiday, we decided to go back to the room for a siesta.
On the way down to dinner, we caught the tail end of the movie Home Again being shown in The Atrium. The screen is large and good quality – they even had bags of popcorn available at the bar.
We had an early dinner booking at Teppanyaki. This was already busy and noisy at 5:45pm. We were sat at a half table with 3 Americans, 2 Canadians and 2 Australians. This is truly an international cruise.
The menu seemed to be the same as on other Norwegian ships.
I ordered a refreshing Wasabi Cocktail while Chris stuck to water.
For entrees, I chose the Asuka and Chris went for Chicken Yakiudon.
The chef was very entertaining juggling ingredients and making shapes and names out of egg whites.
The garlic egg fried rice was delicious as was the rest of the meal.
For dessert, I selected the Fresh Fruit Sashimi and Chris went for the Green Tea Cake. So refreshing.
We spent the rest of the evening in the District Brewhouse where Chris drank the last of the on tap M.I.A. Miami Weiss Hefeweizen (straight after he said he wanted to end the barrel – that’s two down!).
Another towel animal tonight – an elephant!
